BASF Announces Price Increases

April 28, 2008

Effective May 5, 2008, or as contracts allow, BASF will increase its prices by $0.06 per dry pound in the United States and Canada for all Butofan® medium-solids styrene-butadiene latex products and for Styrofan® and Styronal® styrene-butadiene latex products used in the adhesives, architectural coatings, sealants, construction, paper and nonwovens markets.

This action is a result of significant increases in raw material costs, in particular butadiene, which has increased more than $0.05 per pound in the last three months and is projected to increase a minimum of $0.05 per pound over the next two months. Freight-related fuel surcharges and manufacturing energy requirements also contributed to the increase.
