Coatings & Inks Contributed to Cognis’ Significant Sales and Earnings Increase in 2006
Cognis, Monheim, Germany, reports that Functional Products achieved growth of 10.4 percent in 2006, with total sales of 841 million euros. Functional Products business units that performed especially well included Polymers, Coatings & Inks; AgroSolutions; Mining; and the Synthetic Lubricants business. Growth was strongest overall in Asia. In North America, Polymers, Coatings & Inks substantially increased its market share. |

Dow Increases Prices for MDI in Europe, Middle East/Africa and Indian Subcontinent The Dow Chemical Company has increased prices in Europe for methylene diphenyl diisocyanates (MDI) by 100 Euro/MT. Similar price increases have been implemented in the Middle East, Africa and the Indian Subcontinent.
“Continued volatility in raw materials and energy costs coupled with increased demand globally are the driving forces behind this price increase,” said Sudhir Shenoy, European product marketing manager, Dow Polyurethanes.
