Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes Inaugurates Extension of R&D Center in Bangalore, India A new 2,800-square-meter extension to Akzo Nobel Car Refinishes’ International Research Center in Bangalore, India, was opened on March 28, 2007. Nuplex Resins Increases Cost of Coating Resins Nuplex Resins, Louisville Ky., has announced a price increase for all Coating Resins sold in North America to be effective June 4, 2007. The increase will be approximately 2 – 7% and will affect all solvent and water-borne products, including alkyds, acrylics, polyesters, emulsions and amino resins.
The increase is the result of continued pressure for all major raw materials resulting from increasing solvents costs, historically high benzene pricing, and continued increasing soybean pricing.
Dow to Raise Prices of Oxygenated Solvents Products The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, Mich., will raise off-list prices on a number of its Oxygenated Solvents products in North America effective June 1, 2007, or as contracts allow. This increase is primarily driven by the tight supply of butanol combined with the continued increased costs of propylene and natural gas.
Dow Announces North American MDI and TDI Price Increases Effective June 1, 2007, Dow, Midland, Mich., will increase its price for all Pure and Polymeric methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI) by $0.05/pound. This price adjustment applies to all polyurethane market segments and end-use applications in the United States and Canada. Dow will also be implementing its previously announced price increase of $0.10/pound for toluene diisocyanate (TDI) on June 1, 2007. This increase was previously planned to go into effect on May 1, 2007.
EPSCCA Announces General Price Increase for Acrylic Emulsions Sold in North America As a result of the rapid escalation of raw material costs, EPSCCA has elected to raise pricing of all acrylic emulsion products effective June 18, 2007, to reflect conditions in the market. All acrylic emulsions, will increase 3 cents per pound, styrenated acrylics will increase 5 cents per pound, and solution acrylics will increase 7 cents per pound.
WACKER SILICONES Adjusts Prices for HDK Pyrogenic Silica Products Effective with confirmed deliveries made on or after July 1, 2007, WACKER SILICONES, Munich, Germany, will raise prices for its HDK® brand of pyrogenic silica products by 7 percent. The price adjustment applies to business in the Americas, Europe, the Near & Middle East, South East Asia and Australia.
