Sartomer Makes New Appointments Global specialty chemicals manufacturer Sartomer Company, Exton, PA, has named Earl Emerson the new Market Development Manager, Photocure. In the newly created position, Emerson is responsible for identifying and developing new business areas and markets in the United States for Sartomer’s photocure products.
Sartomer has also named Kevin Rice to replace Emerson as Eastern Regional Sales Manager. Rice is responsible for managing the region’s sales for all Sartomer products.
Kratzer Joins Archway Sales Archway Sales Inc., St. Louis, MO, has named Sam Kratzer as a Principal Manager. Sam has 29 years of experience in the chemical business, during part of which he formulated coatings. Most recently Sam held a similar position for GMZ. |

Solvay Increases Prices Effective August 6, 2007, Solvay Chemicals, Inc., Houston, TX, will raise list and off-list prices of its CAPA® monomers, polyols and polymers by $0.10/lb. The increase is due to continued pressures from raw material and supply chain costs, according to Jeff Neidinger, Business Unit Manager, CAPA Products.
Ciba to Increase Price of Classical Pigments Ciba announced that the Coatings Effects Segment will initiate a price increase of between 10 and 20 percent for most classical pigments. Price increases will be effective immediately or as contracts allow. Customers will be contacted individually regarding the specifics as they apply to their contractual situation.
Clariant Announces Price Increases Clariant, Muttenz, Switzerland, a specialty chemicals manufacturer, announced further increases of various product segments.
Price increases will affect the following segments: dyes, optical brighteners, polymer dispersions, leather chemicals and ethoxylates of the textile, leather & paper chemicals division as well as pigments, preparations, polymer additives, flame retardants and intermediates of the pigments and additives division. The price increases vary. Customers will be contacted individually regarding the specifics of the price increases as they apply to their situation.
Clariant’s Functional Chemicals Division also announced price adjustments to address both recent and announced raw material cost increases, especially for products containing ethylene, ethylene oxide as well as fatty alcohol and fatty acid.
