Joseph A. Bauer Passes Away
Joseph A. Bauer Sr., President of the FSCT from 1984-85, passed away September 23, 2007. He was 80 years old. Bauer was a retired chemist for Porter Paint Co. and a Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his three children, seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Rose Bauer.

Air Products Announces Price Increase for Polyurethane Catalysts
Air Products has announced that, effective January 15, 2008, it will be increasing the prices for Dabco^® TEDA-based catalysts by 5-10 percent, Dabco DC silicone and organic-based surfactants by 10 percent, and Dabco metal-based catalysts by 5-10 percent in all geographic regions. Air Products will also be increasing prices on other select amine catalysts on a regional basis.

Dow Increases Prices for Vinyl Acetate Monomer
The Dow Chemical Co. has announced that it will increase off-list selling prices for vinyl acetate monomer in Latin America by U.S. $100 per metric ton; in Asia Pacific by U.S. $100 per metric ton; in Europe by EUR 100 per metric ton; and in the Middle East/Africa by U.S. $100 per metric ton. In the United States and Canada, list and off-list prices will increase by $0.05 per pound. This increase will become effective on January 1, 2008.
