End of Day Three: Feet? Do I Have Feet?

It is the last hour of the show and finally things have slowed down, and I can breath. This morning, I had a chance to once again walk the show floor and check out some cool new technologies. Here they are for your pleasure and enjoyment.

One Day Left: Have I Seen Enough?

It is bright and early on Thursday morning, and I am sitting in a lounge of the convention center, looking through large glass windows down into the convention floor. Things look a lot different at 7:30 than they do at, say, 3:00 in the afternoon. While it is quiet now, I’m sure in a couple of hours the floor will again be full of energy. Here are a few things that I learned over the course of the show that I haven’t yet had time to share on the blog.

Day Two: And I Thought My Feet Hurt Yesterday

The second day of the show has ended, and it was busy again today. It seems like as each day progresses my feet get more tired, and I am almost positive – at least my feet are almost positive- that the size of the show floor has magically increased overnight. Tonight after the show, downtown Charlotte was full of conference attendees and exhibitors taking a break from coatings to enjoy the city. I was lucky enough to be one of them. But now it is back to coatings. Here are a few of today’s highlights.

Happy Hour, Happy Coatings Formulators

I know it is 5:00 somewhere, even though it is technically more like 4:00 in Charlotte. But here on the floor of the American Coatings Show, it feels more like five. In other words, things are starting to feel a little like happy hour. Booths have opened up their bars, and attendees and exhibitors are walking around with a nice tote and also a nice cold beverage or glass of wine.

Still More to See

This morning started out with a nice breakfast hosted by Arkema. Representatives talked about the direction they’re planning to take the company, as well as giving us all an update about the company’s acquisition of UCAR Emulsion Systems. It was a really good event with good food, great information, and excellent planning: a great way to start off the day. I’ll have more to say about specific things I learned from Arkema tomorrow morning.

Day One: Wow, Do My Feet Hurt!

It is 5:00 and the show floor is closed but the networking goes on into the night. Organizers of the show put on a very nice exhibitor’s reception. For the rest of the evening, the PCI staff decided to divide and conquer and attended events hosted by Cognis at Discovery Place and by Bayer MaterialScience LLC at the Omni. Before the show closed, we visited a few more suppliers to see their latest and greatest.
