The Eastern Coatings Show (ECS) is set for May 15-17 at Harrah’s Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Hosted by the Eastern Coatings Federation – the Philadelphia Society for Coatings Technology, the New England Society for Coatings Technology and the Metropolitan New York Coatings Association – this show is intended to offer educational and technical presentations to increase understanding of the theory, science, manufacturing and marketing of coatings.
The line-up for the conference features 46 speakers and three concurrent tracks covering UV curing, resin technology, additives, colors and pigments, pigment dispersions, functional fillers, and resins. In addition, the University of Southern Mississippi School of Polymers and Higher Performance Materials will present an abbreviated short course on new coatings applications. The course is designed for coatings chemists and formulators interested in new applications for waterborne coatings. This four-hour short course provides an introduction to the technology of waterborne coatings, with an emphasis on the challenges encountered in converting existing solventborne coating systems to water. It consists of a series of lectures organized around various popular coatings types, including acrylic latex, polyester/alkyd, twocomponent polyurethane, polyurethane dispersion, epoxy and silicone. Additional topics covered will include the use of additives, pigments, pigment dispersions and application methods for waterborne coatings.
