Paul N. Gardner Company (GARDCO) announced it will complete the global phase-out of all PFAS-containing products by December 31, 2025. The transition, which began in 2024, aligns the company with emerging international regulations and growing customer demand for safer, more sustainable testing and inspection instruments.
“Due to restrictions under chemical regulations there was an urgent need to phase out the PFAS products in our portfolio,” said James Fusco, product manager at GARDCO. “Our decision is driven by the need to protect sustainability, comply with global laws, and meet the needs of our customers.”
The shift impacts products containing Teflon, including applicators, coated thermometers, and disperser blades. GARDCO has introduced alternative materials such as Cerakote to maintain performance standards while eliminating PFAS. The company cited benefits such as improved environmental outcomes, regulatory compliance, and expanded market opportunities.
Founded in 1935 and part of the ALTANA Group since 2019, GARDCO designs, manufactures, and distributes physical test instruments for the paint, coatings, and related industries.
This transition underscores the coatings sector’s trend toward PFAS-free solutions in line with global sustainability goals.
