WASHINGTON — The National Paint & Coatings Association (NPCA) announced that James Bradley, author of the best-selling book “Flags of Our Fathers,” will be the keynote speaker at the association’s 2001 Annual Meeting, scheduled for Oct. 28-30 in Seattle. Bradley will address the meeting’s Opening Session on Monday, Oct. 29.

Flags of Our Fathers tells the story of those involved in the World War II battle for Iwo Jima, specifically the six men who raised the American flag following the 36-day battle. The New York Times called the book “an arresting meditation on the nature of heroism” and “one of the most instructive and moving books on war and its aftermath.”

Bradley also has worked as a business executive, and speaks to business groups on the topics of leadership and “how to do the impossible.”

The Annual Meeting will get under way with committee and board of directors meetings on Oct. 28, with the Opening General Session scheduled for Oct. 29. The meeting also will feature several Forum sessions on industry issues, social events and a guest program.
