LEUVEN, Belgium – Three of Capricorn Venture Partners' clean-tech companies were recognized in the Global Cleantech 100 list. The three companies were among a number of biobased products organizations, demonstrating the power of innovation in the renewable chemical sector.

Capricorn Venture Partners is one of the major investors in Avantium, which converts biomass into next-generation bioplastics, chemicals and fuels. The company was listed for the fifth consecutive year and was also named European Cleantech Company of the Year. FRX Polymers, which produces environmentally friendly flame-retardant plastics, and Green Biologics, which has developed environmentally friendly microbial biotechnologies to produce bio-based butanol, were also named in the Cleantech 100 list.

Additionally, Avantium and FRX Polymers were two of the three companies on the “Lust List,” having received the most peer validations from the expert panel without any negative cases made against them.
