ARLINGTON, VA – In response to popular demand, the Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) of the American Chemistry Council (ACC) will sponsor the Polyurethane Professional Development Program (PDP) during the Polyurethanes 2009 Technical Conference, Oct. 5–7, at the Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center, just outside Washington, D.C. Now in its sixth year, the Professional Development Program provides an education and training program for the global polyurethane industry, including college students, teachers, industry newcomers, longtime experts and polyurethane end users.

 

Attendees will have eight PDP courses to choose from, ranging from introductory to advanced levels on polyurethane-related topics such as basic chemistry and technology to building and energy codes. This year, a new course on processing equipment has been added to the program. Metering machines, metering systems, mixing heads, electrical control and plant design will be addressed in the Processing Equipment course.

 

Taught by industry experts, each course is a thorough half-day or full-day session that runs concurrent with the conference technical and issue sessions. This year’s eight seminars are: Introduction to Polyurethane Chemistry; Polyurethane CASE (Coating, Adhesive, Sealant and Elastomers); Building and Energy Codes: Introduction and Overview Relative to Polyurethanes; Physical Testing of Polyurethane Foams; Processing Equipment; Introduction to Polyurethane Technology; Markets and Applications; and Polyurethane Raw Materials Testing, Specifications and Performance: The Myth and the Magic.
