NORWALK, CT - Arch Chemicals Inc. announced a definitive agreement to acquire Avecia's Biocides business for approximately $210 million. Completion of the purchase is anticipated near the end of the current quarter, pending regulatory approvals. Avecia Biocides includes a Pool & Spa unit and a Protective & Hygiene business.

The Protection & Hygiene business is a global supplier of biocides for the industrial and consumer segments of the biocides market, with sales primarily concentrated in North America and Western Europe. The product portfolio includes biocides for polymer emulsions and in-can coatings preservation.
