LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany - BASF Coatings AG and the Treffert Group of Germany announced agreements under which BASF Coatings will acquire Treffert's Foil Coatings business and Treffert will purchase BASF's Fibre Board Coatings affiliates in Spain and Italy. Financial terms were not disclosed.

BASF said the transactions are structured as a purchase of assets, including customer lists and intellectual property rights. The purchases include no locations or manufacturing equipment.

Ali Vahlhaus, managing director of the Treffert Group, said the deal will enhance the company's portfolio of UV-cure HPC finishing systems for engineered wood flooring. Geoff Dodd, business director, Precoatings, for BASF Coatings, said the purchase of the foil-coatings business strengthens a core competency in the company's precoatings portfolio.
