MIDLAND, MI - The Dow Chemical Co. (Dow) has announced that the multi-year polyols expansion project at the company’s Terneuzen, the Netherlands, plant has been successfully completed. The additional capability will support customers in Europe as well as in other growing regions such as India, Middle East and Africa. The key downstream markets that will benefit from this expanded capacity, which includes specialty polyols, are: furniture and bedding; coatings, adhesives, sealants and elastomers; building and construction; and automotive.

Additional value to our customers comes from our ability to take advantage of production of propylene oxide (PO), a raw material for polyols, at the new hydrogen-peroxide-to-propylene-oxide (HPPO) facility in nearby Antwerp, Belgium. As a global polyols leader committed to this industry, Dow continues to create growth opportunities for customers through sound investment in capability improvements.”

 

The capability expansion makes Terneuzen the largest and most flexible of Dow’s 11 polyols production sites.
