AMSTERDAM - Univar N.V. of The Netherlands has acquired the assets of Stochem Inc., a Toronto-based distributor of specialty chemicals, for $11 million (U.S.) in cash. Stochem is a distributor to the coatings, ink, adhesives, building products, and other industrial markets.

Univar said Stochem will be integrated into the Univar Canada Ltd. business organization, but will continue to operate as a separate business unit.
