Darlene Brezinski and Douglas A. Wicks have been named adjunct professors at the University of Southern Mississippi.

HATTIESBURG, MS — Darlene Brezinski, Ph.D., editor of PCI magazine, has been named adjunct professor of Forensic Science at the University of Southern Mississippi, the university has announced. Brezinski will play a key role in facilitating interaction between the university’s Department of Polymer Science and the Forensic Science Program, both of which are part of the School of Polymers and High-Performance Materials.

The university also named Douglas A. Wicks, Ph.D., director of Coatings Research at Bayer Corp., an adjunct professor. Wicks, who retains his position at Bayer, will teach coatings-science and polyurethane-technology courses. He also will lecture at USM’s coatings science short-course series in June.

Brezinski is recognized as an expert in forensic science, and is a member of the Scientific Working Group for Materials Analysis. One section of the working group, known as SWGMAT, focuses on paint and the development of international protocols and testing procedures for forensic scientists. She is a board-certified forensic examiner and a past member of the executive board of the American Board of Forensic Examiners.

Brezinski has more than 25 years of experience in the coatings industry, and was formerly director of Analytical and Computer Services at DeSoto Inc. She also is president of Consolidated Research Inc., and was president of the Federation of Societies for Coatings Technology in 1996.

Wicks has more than 27 patents and has published technical articles and lectured at symposiums on coatings and chemicals.
