The historic paint colors, part of Valspar's premium line of American Tradition Paints, are based on colors used in National Trust sites such as the Woodrow Wilson House, Lyndhurst, Woodlawn, and others, the company says. Samples taken from National Trust sites were scientifically analyzed and documented in Munsell notations, a color system recognized by the National Park Service. Valspar says it matched nearly 140 colors as part of its National Trust palette.

Valspar's American Tradition paints are 100% acrylic interior and exterior coatings that the company says carry a lifetime warranty. The paints are sold exclusively through the Lowe's chain of home-center stores.
