BASF Coatings AG and PPG Industries Inc. were recognized for innovative coatings developments, as both companies received PACE Awards sponsored by Automotive News magazine and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young.
BASF Coatings was cited for the company’s development of the “Integrated Process” automotive-finishing system, which the company said offers energy savings and reduced air-pollutant emissions. PPG, which also won a PACE award in 2000, received a prize this year for its development of the Audioguard sound- and vibration-deadening coating. Last year, PPG captured the award for the development of the Enviracryl powder clearcoat for automotive bodies.
