Home » NPCA Recommends Industry Participation in EPA Program on Lead
WASHINGTON — The NPCA is urging its member companies to participate in an EPA program aimed at publicizing the EPA’s Lead Pre-Renovation Rule, called “Lead PRE.” The rule, which went into effect on June 1, 1999, and applies to housing built prior to 1978, requires contractors to distribute a lead-hazard information pamphlet, “Protect Your Family From Lead in Your Home.”
The pamphlet and related materials are part of an EPA outreach program designed to raise awareness of the health hazards of lead poisoning. The pamphlet makes recommendations to both contractors and do-it-yourselfers regarding activities that could cause exposure to lead.
