MUNICH, Germany - Wacker Chemie AG, Munich, Germany, published its Sustainability Report for 2011 and 2012. The report fully meets the G3 guidelines set by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). GRI evaluated the report and gave it an A, the highest reporting category. For the first time, the company’s report has been published exclusively as an online version, a more environmentally friendly reporting method.
The transparent and comprehensive report covers traditional sustainability topics – such as environmental protection, health, workplace and plant safety, and sustainability management – as well as topics such as equal opportunity, demographics, work-life balance and international disaster aid. Compared to the 2009/2010 edition, WACKER has broadened the topics in the report. The new report is the first to include specific energy targets, figures on indirect energy consumption, and information on the relationship between water demand and the availability of fresh water.
