Two PPG Scientists Earn Rare Honor

PPG announced the promotion of scientists David Fenn and Renhe Lin to associate fellow, a title that honors science and technology employees for their innovation and potential to deliver future value.

“These promotions represent one of the most significant achievements within the PPG technical organization,” said David Bem, senior vice president, science and technology and chief technology officer. “It reflects their focus on mutual value creation, intellectual property development, and scientific leadership.”

Fenn, who holds a Ph.D. in polymer chemistry from the University of Birmingham, joined PPG in 1999 and has contributed to numerous technologies across the company. He was recently granted his 50th U.S. patent and played a key role in products such as PPG ENVIRO-PRIME EPIC and PPG NEXA AUTOCOLOR refinish lines.

Lin, who earned a Ph.D. in chemical engineering from the University of Kentucky, joined PPG in 2005 and holds more than 60 U.S. patents. His innovations in aerospace sealants and transparencies have contributed over $700 million in value to PPG.

The company currently has four other employees designated as fellows.
