W.R. Grace has acquired the Hampshire Polymers Business from Hampshire Chemical.
BALTIMORE — W.R. Grace & Co. has acquired the Hampshire Polymers Business from the Hampshire Chemical Corp., a subsidiary of The Dow Chemical Co. The business, a manufacturer of high-barrier coatings and adhesive emulsions with annual sales of more than $20 million, will be integrated into Grace Performance Chemicals. Grace said the acquisition broadens its sealants and coatings product offerings, and provides entry into the high-growth flexible-packaging market. Hampshire Polymers is based in Owensboro, KY.

Grace’s existing sealants and coatings, marketed under the Darex brand, include products for the metal packaged-food, beer and beverage markets. Grace is also a supplier of catalysts and silica products, specialty construction chemicals and building materials, and container products.
