New Development of Multi-Functional Coalescent Boosts In-Can Preservation
A new multi-functional additive has been developed that functions both as a coalescent and greatly enhances in-can preservation. The new additive platform yields improved hardness, block resistance, scrub resistance and dirt pickup resistance versus the traditional high-VOC coalescent 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentanediol monoisobutyrate, with even more dramatic improvements over the commonly used low-VOC coalescents. This new platform, which can be formulated to achieve <10 g/L VOC paint, also enhances in-can preservation against common problematic microbes, reducing traditional isothiazolinone or other biocides.
