Foundations of Color Measurement
When it comes to color measurement, the objective is always to measure what we see. This 30 minute webinar is designed to provide a foundational understanding of how we perceive color, and how that understanding translates to quantitative color measurement using a spectrophotometer. Topics include: light sources and standard illuminants, how the human eye detects color, the standard observer functions, interaction between light and materials, the measurement principle of a spectrophotometer, how to describe colors and interpret color values in CIEL*a*b* color space, and how gloss affects how we see and measure color.
In this webinar, you will develop a basic understanding of:
- The 3 components of color perception
- Measurement principle of a spectrophotometer
- Color scales and calculating color differences
- Differences between sphere and 45/0 measurement geometries
