Introduction to Dispersion- More than Mixing
Dispersers provide the mechanical energy to breakdown agglomerated particles to smaller aggregates. Learn about how they work and how their uses. There are two classes of dispersers to grind material- high shear disperser blade rotating at a high speed and bead mills that use grinding media. We will discuss the differences. A mechanical force moves the media at a rapid speed creating a shear force by collisions and rolling movements. Hear about the key factors- material volume, viscosity, and final particle size- to select the right disperser. Certain products require a vacuum environment or the use of a nitrogen blanket to keep product free of moisture. The options will also be discussed during the presentation. The doughnut effect as well as the proper tip speed adjustment will also be covered.
