Jan Pieter Drijfhout has a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. He joined DSM in 2006 as R&D Scientist to develop new binder systems for low-temperature-curable powder coatings. In 2018 he became Senior Scientist Polycondensation Chemistry, focusing on alternative polycondensation technologies and project director novel applications. He is author of various patents and publications in these fields. Currently he holds the position of R&D Manager Applied Polycondensates. Amongst others, being responsible for powder coating resins and application development, and responsible for automation and digitalization of the labs in Covestro.
