Silicone Water-Based Elastomers – Waterborne Silicone Latex for Coating Formulations
As the industry continues to move towards water-based formulations due to regulations and environmental concerns, the majority of silicone coatings remain solvent based or high solids, both of which require solvent cleanup and contribute VOCs. Silicone water-Based Elastomers (SWBEs) are silicone elastomers offered as a water-based latex, which provides easy handling and formulation, with the performance of a solvent-based or high-solids silicone coating. SWBEs are ultra-low VOCs and can be used as the sole binder, or easily blended with organic resins to improve flexibility, water resistance and weatherability.
