BASF Increases Capacity for Neopentyl Glycol

LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany - BASF is adding 10,000 metric tons to its annual capacity for neopentyl glycol (NPG) at its Verbund site in Ludwigshafen, Germany. This puts the global annual NPG capacity of the company at 155,000 metric tons by the end of 2007.

NPG is a tried and tested essential component for eco-efficient powder coating resins. It is also used for unsaturated polyester and alkyd resins, which serve as binders in a variety of liquid coatings.
