International Paint LLC, Houston, an Akzo Nobel company, and one of the world's leading providers of high-performance coatings, has opened a new distribution center to serve its customers throughout Pittsburgh and the surrounding Tri-State region.

The new 8,500-sq-ft facility will offer a full range of high-performance protective and specialty coatings to the growing clientele in the industrial, aviation, OEM, mining, energy and metal-fabrication markets.

"Opening the Pittsburgh Distribution Center not only gives us closer proximity to our customers," said Dave Revay, International Paint's sales zone manager, "but also allows us to provide more focused service, including the ability to deliver products within as little as 24 hours of receiving an order."

International Paint's decision to open the new facility is the first step of a larger, long-term effort to expand distribution of its high-performance protective coatings throughout the Northeast.

According to the facility's warehouse supervisor, Scott Harriger, the distribution center will feature state-of-the-art technology including two automated tinting machines that accommodate both solvent- and water-based coatings.

The Pittsburgh Distribution Center is located in the Pittsburgh Airport Business Park in Coraopolis, Pa.
