NPCA to Hold Annual Meeting

Featured speakers at the NPCA annual meeting.

Dr. Stan Davis, a best-selling and award-winning business author, will be the keynote speaker at the NPCA’s 2000 annual meeting on Monday, October 16, in Chicago.

In his writing, Davis addresses how e-commerce changes business models, risk as opportunity, developing human capital markets, and transforming human resource management from administrative functions to a portfolio of assets.

Davis’ books have sold over half a million copies, and are published in 15 languages. His latest book, BLUR, enjoyed a long reign on Business Week’s bestsellers’ list. Davis has also written articles that appeared in Forbes, Fast Company and Strategy & Leadership magazines, among others.

His creative thinking makes practical connections to new business opportunities and earned his book Future Perfect the Tom Peter’s Book of the Decade Award. Federal Express presented him with their 1993 Visionary of the Year Award for “outstanding contribution to our understanding of future business trends.” Fortune magazine named Davis’ 20/20 Vision best management book of 1991, calling it “the most mind-bending of the bunch.”

Davis has a doctorate in the social sciences. He spent two decades on the faculties of the Harvard Business School and Columbia and Boston Universities. Davis consults about the strategy, management and organization of both major corporations and fast-growing enterprises, and is a senior research fellow at Ernst and Young’s Center for Business Innovation.

Phillip Evans, Marshall Goldsmith, and John Brandt will present forum sessions.

Philip Evans, senior vice president of the Boston Consulting Group, will deliver a lecture, “Blown to Bits: The New Economics of Information.” He will discuss how the new economics of information transforms strategy, the organization of the future, and marketing in the deconstructed world.

Next, Marshall Goldsmith, a renowned speaker on leadership development and a founding director of Keilty, Goldsmith and Co., will share tips and lessons in leadership. Marshall was rated in the Wall Street Journal as one of the Top 10 consultants in the field of executive development.

John Brandt, associate publisher and editor-in-chief of IndustryWeek will begin the final forum session. Brandt, a firm believer that great manufacturers are taught, not born will discuss leadership, best practices in management, and world-class manufacturing strategies.
