PHILADELPHIA - Rohm and Haas Co. has announced plans to acquire Acima, a Swiss company specializing in biocidal formulations, polyure-t-hane catalysts and other specialty chemicals. Pending customary government approvals, the transaction is expected to be completed by March.

Acima will remain a separate legal entity and retain its name and trademarks, Rohm and Haas said. The company said the acquisition will expand its product portfolio in several industry segments, including coatings, building products, polyurethane technologies, and industrial processes.
