NEW CASTLE, Del. - Selected assets of the DSM Somos® selective laser sintering business conducted by DSM Desotech Inc. and its DSM Somos subsidiary based in New Castle, Del., have been sold to The Valspar Corporation, Minneapolis. The selected assets include the patents and inventory for DSM Desotech's Somos powder product line.

"The sale reflects a strategic decision by DSM Somos to focus its energy and resources solely on UV-curable rapid-prototyping technologies while maintaining the availability of these established SLS powder materials," says DSM Somos Business Manager Jim Reitz. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
