PHILADELPHIA - Arkema Inc. announced that its Additives Business received an R&D 100 Award for two products that control the self-polishing behavior of marine antifoulant paints, preventing organism growth on the hulls of seagoing ships.

The R&D 100 Awards competition, sponsored by R&D Magazine, recognizes the 100 most significant technology products in development for the marketplace during the previous year. R&D Magazine honored Arkema's achievements related to the commercialization of its silyl polymers.

Arkema's silyl products offer important advancements for the self-polishing marine antifoulant paint technology industry, including significant environmental and economic benefits over many of the options now available.
