ST. LOUIS - Chemir Analytical Services, a chemical-analysis testing laboratory, has acquired PRA Laboratories Inc., Ypsilanti, MI. PRA Laboratories, founded in 1943, provides research and development services to the paint and coatings industry, including product formulation, synthesis and problem solving. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Shri Thanedar, CEO of Chemir Analytical Services, said the acquisition "complements Chemir's offerings to the coatings industry." He said Chemir's focus on "non-routine" problem solving "matches PRA Laboratories' emphasis on formulating new products, reverse-engineering competitive products and failure analysis."

Chemir Analytical Services, based in St. Louis, is a supplier of chemical analysis and testing services for a range of industries. The company also operates facilities in Williamsport, PA, and Miramar, FL.
