Huber Acquires Omya Inc. Calcium Carbonate Facility

ATLANTA - J.M. Huber Corp.'s Huber Engineered Materials business unit has acquired a calcium carbonate processing facility in Quincy, IL, formerly owned and operated by Omya Quincy Inc. Terms of the purchase were not disclosed. The plant's operations will be transferred to an existing Huber plant in the area, the company said.

Huber said it will seek to optimize production at the Quincy site by investigating processes to handle other inorganic materials. Huber Engineered Materials also is a supplier of specialty silica and silicates, alumina trihydrate, magnesium hydroxide, kaolin clay, and barium sulfate.
