A Union Process customer needed to grind ceramic materials, specifically alumina and zirconium, in a metal-free environment. After reviewing and analyzing the customer's specifications and requirements, Union Process recommended a dry grinding SD-100 Attritor to achieve the desired end product. The unit is versatile and easy to maintain. To maximize efficiency for this specific application, the mill was automated to run in batch mode with pneumatically operated discharge valves. Featuring a gross tank capacity of 155 gallons, the custom SD-100 was equipped with tungsten carbide sleeved arms and a ceramic-lined tank to provide a complete metal-free system.
