Covestro is expanding its global support for Direct Coating The In-Mold Coating technology, a two-shot process that combines injection molding with polyurethane coating in a single mold. This technology reduces costs and energy while streamlining production and enabling more design flexible coated plastic components for automotive applications including those featuring haptics and visual effects. The process transfers the molded part to a second cavity and applies a low viscosity 2K PU that cures in the mold, eliminating conventional paint lines and shortening cycle times.
