July 20, 2026Need to Know
- Sherwin-Williams remains the largest North American paint and coatings manufacturer in PCI’s annual PCI 25 ranking.
- The 2026 PCI 25 is based on 2025 coatings sales.
- PCI uses company-reported data, public financial reporting, company disclosures and clearly identified editorial estimates.
- For companies that reported a sales range, PCI used the lower end of the range for ranking placement.
- Companies without current, supportable 2025 sales figures may be included in a Honorable Mentions section rather than assigned a numbered position.
- Major 2025 developments included ownership changes, acquisitions, facility investments, product launches, leadership transitions and continued regional growth.
The following is PCI’s annual ranking of the top 25 North American paint and coatings manufacturers, based on 2025 coatings sales, company-reported data and publicly available corporate information.
Wherever possible, PCI strives to report coatings-only sales. However, not all companies publicly break out coatings revenue from broader business segments. In such cases, we use the best available reported information and note when a figure reflects broader segment or total company sales. When full segmentation is not available, ranking placement may reflect broader company performance in the absence of more detailed coatings-specific data.
For companies that reported a sales range, PCI used the lower end of the range for ranking placement. Figures labeled “Approx.” are based on publicly reported information or transparent calculations. Figures labeled “A PCI estimate” reflect PCI’s editorial judgment using the best available information, such as prior company disclosures, public filings, transaction details or clearly explained comparable sales bases.
This year’s ranking also includes a non-ranked Honorable Mentions category for companies that remain relevant to the North American coatings market but could not be assigned a numbered position. Some companies reported 2025 sales that fell outside the top 25 using PCI’s ranking method. Others did not provide current sales information for publication or did not have a current, supportable 2025 figure available by publication deadline.
