At PPG, more than 40,000 team members work every day to develop and deliver the paints, coatings and specialty products that customers have trusted for more than 140 years. Through dedication and creativity, the company solves customers’ biggest challenges, collaborating closely to find the right path forward. With headquarters in Pittsburgh, the company operates and innovates in more than 50 countries and reported net sales of $15.9 billion in 2025. PPG serves customers in the construction, consumer products, industrial and transportation markets, and aftermarkets.

Following strategic divestitures in 2024, PPG strengthened its financial profile and further sharpened its focus on driving an enterprise growth strategy. This allowed the company to deliver stronger commercial and innovation execution, resulting in positive momentum throughout 2025 and into 2026.

2025 Coatings Sales: $15.9 billion

Headquarters: Pittsburgh, PA

In 2025, PPG's $15.9 billion in net sales included a 2% increase in organic sales due to higher sales volumes and selling prices. This above-market performance was led by sales volume growth in the Performance Coatings segment in the Aerospace Coatings, Protective and Marine Coatings, and Traffic Solutions businesses, and share gains in the Industrial Coatings segment in Automotive Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Coatings, Industrial Coatings and Packaging Coatings.

In 2025, PPG returned $1.4 billion to shareholders, including approximately $630 million in dividends and $790 million in share repurchases. The company also extended its record of paying uninterrupted annual dividends for 126 years and increasing dividends for 54 consecutive years.

PPG comprises three reportable segments:

  • Performance Coatings, including aerospace, automotive refinish, protective and marine and traffic solutions. (35% of sales in 2025)
  • Industrial Coatings, including OEM coatings, packaging coatings and specialty materials. (41% of sales in 2025)
  • Global Architectural Coatings, now focused on regions outside of the United States and Canada. (24% of sales in 2025)

Notes: The company’s 2025 sales exclude the former U.S. and Canada architectural coatings business, which PPG sold to American Industrial Partners in December 2024 and is now reflected in PCI’s ranking through Pittsburgh Paints Co. and CIL. PPG’s remaining Global Architectural Coatings segment is focused on regions outside the United States and Canada, including Latin America, Europe and Asia Pacific.

In February 2025, PPG expanded its non-BPA internal packaging coatings lineup with PPG HOBA® Pro 2848 coating for aluminum bottles. Also in February, the company extended its COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® program through 2035 and committed $15 million to support the program’s next decade.

In March 2025, PPG started up a waterborne automotive coatings plant in Samut Prakan, Thailand, including an automated spray application center. The company also opened an automotive coatings color creation studio at its Global Coatings Innovation Center in Tianjin, China, supporting high-precision color design and the growing new energy vehicle market.

In May 2025, PPG announced a $380 million investment to build an aerospace coatings and sealants manufacturing facility in Shelby, North Carolina. The facility is expected to employ more than 110 people and begin operations in the first half of 2027. Also in May, PPG launched ENVIROLUXE™ Plus powder coatings, which contain up to 18% post-industrial recycled plastic and are formulated without intentionally added PFAS.

In July 2025, PPG and ArcelorMittal announced findings from a joint study on reducing the carbon footprint of automotive manufacturing through advances in steelmaking, pretreatment and electrocoat technologies. Also in July, PPG completed its 100th marine dry docking using electrostatic application of premium fouling control coatings.

In August 2025, PPG and Asian Paints renewed their India joint venture agreement for 15 years, effective from 2026 through 2041. The renewal continues the companies’ work across automotive, refinish, industrial, protective, marine, packaging and powder coatings. Also in August, PPG marked the 3,000th global installation of its MOONWALK® automated paint mixing system.

In September 2025, PPG announced a partnership with Toyota Motor Europe to support the company’s Toyota and Lexus collision center network through approved refinish brands, digital tools, training and sustainability programs.

In October 2025, PPG introduced MIX’N’SHAKE™ automated stirring technology for automotive refinish shops and launched ENVIROCRON® Extreme Protection Edge Plus powder coating. Also in October, PPG’s Automotive OEM Coatings business was named a 2025 Supplier of the Year by Stellantis in the Body and Interior category.
