PPG announced plans to invest $380 million to build a new aerospace coatings and sealants manufacturing facility in Shelby, North Carolina. The 198,000-square-foot plant will be constructed on a 62-acre site and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027, with construction beginning in October 2025.
The facility will include manufacturing and warehousing units and will employ more than 110 people. It will produce PPG’s full line of aerospace coatings and sealants and support the company’s growing customer base with improved logistics and supply chain efficiency.
“PPG’s investment in this new manufacturing facility demonstrates the significant demand growth for our world-class technologies and our continued commitment to serving our aerospace customers,” said Tim Knavish, chairman and chief executive officer, PPG.
Sam Millikin, vice president, global aerospace, added, “This investment not only underscores our commitment to the aerospace industry and providing high-quality products, but also positions us to respond more effectively to growing market needs.”
PPG noted that the new facility will incorporate advanced technologies and sustainable practices to reduce environmental impact while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
