With more than 150 years of coatings expertise, Axalta Coating Systems is a global manufacturer, marketer and distributor of high-performance coatings systems and products. In 2025, the company reported net sales of $5.117 billion, down 3.0% from $5.276 billion in 2024. Net sales by region was: EMEA, 36%; North America, 34%; Asia Pacific, 18%; and Latin America, 12%. Axalta reported a global footprint of 42 manufacturing facilities, four technology centers, 48 customer training centers and approximately 12,300 team members, serving customers in more than 140 countries through its sales and technical support organization and more than 5,000 independent, locally based distributors.
Axalta operates in two business segments: Performance Coatings and Mobility Coatings. Performance Coatings accounted for $3.277 billion, or 64% of total sales, including $2.051 billion from refinish coatings, or 40.1%, and $1.226 billion from industrial coatings, or 24%. Mobility Coatings generated $1.840 billion, or 36% of total sales, with $1.438 billion from light vehicle coatings, or 28.1%, and $402 million from commercial vehicle coatings, or 7.9%. Performance Coatings sales declined 5.2% year over year, while Mobility Coatings sales increased 1.1%.

In November 2025, Axalta and AkzoNobel entered into a definitive agreement to combine in an all-stock merger of equals. The transaction is expected to create a premier global coatings company and remains subject to shareholder and regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The companies expect the transaction to close in late 2026 or early 2027.
Notes: In January 2025, Axalta appointed Tim Bowes president of its Global Industrial Coatings business, succeeding Shelley Bausch. Also in January, Axalta and Dürr Systems AG entered into a partnership to combine Axalta’s NextJet™ digital paint technology with Dürr’s robotics integration for light vehicle OEMs. The overspray-free technology is designed to enable precise, maskless paint application for two-tone and graphic vehicle designs.
In April 2025, Axalta received two Edison Awards for automotive coatings innovation. Axalta Irus Scan™ earned Silver in the Automotive Materials category, while MyColor received Bronze. Irus Scan is a handheld color-measurement device designed to improve refinish color matching, while MyColor is intended to accelerate the development and approval of complex custom colors for automotive OEMs. Also in April, Axalta NextJet™ was named a 2025 Automotive News PACE Pilot Innovation to Watch.
In October 2025, Axalta introduced Alesta® e-PRO FG Black and Alesta® e-PRO Dielectric Gray powder coatings for electric vehicle battery applications. The products are designed to support extreme heat protection, fire resistance and electrical insulation in battery systems and stationary energy storage applications.
In November 2025, Axalta and AkzoNobel announced a definitive agreement to combine in an all-stock merger of equals. The proposed transaction would create a global coatings company with approximately $17 billion in annual revenue, an enterprise value of approximately $25 billion and dual headquarters in Amsterdam and Philadelphia.
Later in November, Axalta received a 2025 R&D 100 Award in the Mechanical/Materials category for its Spies Hecker Permasolid® Speed-TEC Fast Cure Low Energy Collision Repair Paint System. The company said the system can reduce energy consumption by up to 49% and cut cycle times by 50% compared with conventional collision repair systems.
