Axalta Coating Systems is a leading global supplier of transportation and performance coatings serving four main sectors. With 50 manufacturing facilities and operating in 130 countries, Axalta operates in two business segments: Performance Coatings and Transportation Coatings. In 2018, Performance Coatings accounted for $3,026 billion in sales (64.8%), and Transportation Coatings recorded sales of $1,644 billion (35.2%).

The company serves customers through a large sales force and technical support organization, and approximately 4,000 independent distributors. End markets served by Axalta include refinish (37.6% of sales), industrial (27.2% of sales), light vehicle (27.6% of sales) and commercial vehicle (7.6% of sales).

Brands owned by the company include AquaEC™ electrocoat products, Alesta^® and Abcite^® powder coatings for architectural and other applications, Nap-Gard^® powder coatings for oil and gas pipelines, and energy solutions coatings, including Voltatex^® electrical insulation coatings.

Notes: Axalta announced a 30,000-square-foot expansion at its Jacksonville, Texas, production facility in July 2018. The expansion will increase the company’s liquid industrial coatings production capacity in North America by approximately one million gallons annually.

In April 2018, the company inaugurated a new coating manufacturing plant in Gujarat, India. The facility produces coatings for refinish, automotive parts and commercial vehicle customers.

In November 2018, Axalta celebrated the opening of its Global Innovation Center in Philadelphia. The 175,000-square-foot color and coatings research and development center is the hub for the company’s global research, product development and technology initiatives.
