CHICO, CA - Polymer Solutions Inc. completed the sale of its wholly owned subsidiary, Alternative Materials Technology, to Chemcraft Holdings Corp., a subsidiary of Chemcraft International Inc.

Alternative Materials Technology represents substantially all of the assets of Polymer Solutions, a manufacturer of waterborne and low-VOC solvent-based coatings based in Chico, CA. Polymer Solutions said it was in the process of dissolving the company.

Polymer Solutions' product line includes wood coatings, stains, sealers and primers for wood furniture and wood products. The company also manufactures adhesives and a line of coatings for glass, metal and concrete.

Chemcraft, based in Winston-Salem, NC, said the acquired business will continue manufacturing operations in Chico. Chemcraft said John Crawley, formerly the company's corporate technical director, has been named president of the Alternative Materials Technology business.

Chemcraft is a manufacturer of industrial coatings, including products for wood, kitchen cabinets, furniture, wood flooring, and millwork. The company's product portfolio includes nitrocellulose lacquers; waterborne finishes; polyester, polyurethane and UV coatings; and vinyl finishes. The company's estimated 2002 sales were $62 million.
