Arc flash, a short circuit that travels from one exposed live conductor to another, is a major concern of safety and facility managers. Typically occurring when electrical equipment is being disconnected, inspected or serviced, an arc flash can be caused by a range of factors. Basic arc flash labels alert workers to potential arc flash hazards and the needs for personal protective equipment (PPE). "Warning" and "Danger" labels are available in English and Spanish. Write-on arc flash labels include spaces for entering the flash protection boundary and hazard category, as well as checkboxes for indicating the required PPE. The labels can be written on with pen or marker. Preprinted labels have the hazard category and PPE requirements preprinted on the label and include spaces for writing in the flash protection boundary, incident energy, etc.
