Sun Chemical Enters the Aluminum Pigments Market

CHARLOTTE, NC – Customers in the coatings market were introduced to Sun Chemical’s new SunMetallics® product lines at the American Coatings Show 2008.
The launch of SunMetallics propels Sun Chemical into the aluminum pigments market and will expand its product-line range of effect pigments into the marketplace. Available in both cornflake and silver dollar pigments, the new line offers a range of non-leafing metallic effects for a variety of industrial and OEM coatings.
“Sun Chemical is very excited to enter the aluminum pigments market and provide our customers with additional product offerings that deliver quality, service and innovation,” said Myron Petruch, President, Performance Pigments Group, Sun Chemical. “The current SunMetallics lines are directed to the solventborne coatings market; however, Sun Chemical is rapidly developing new technologies that will expand the product line to offer our customers more products to meet their unique development, design and effect needs.”
The SunMetallics cornflake line offers both metallic effects and superior coverage for protective coatings, can and coil and other industrial applications.
The silver dollar line provides a bold metallic look with exceptional reflectivity and color travel---ideal for OEM, automotive trim, high-end industrial and consumer electronic applications.
Sun Chemical’s entrance into the aluminum pigments market became a reality due to the recent joint venture with Nantong DIC Metallic Pigments Co., Ltd., a leading aluminum pigment manufacturer in China in January 2008.

It took them a while, nobody thought Sun Chemical will wait that much until they finally make a move by entering the aluminum pigments market. If they were a serious autocasting company, they wouldn’t have decided to stall that much, especially because they have so many clients and their business definitely needed a change. Hopefully, this is for the best and the business will keep on growing after they enter this market.
