MARENGO, IL - Following an extended period of modest cost inflation, key polymer raw materials including propylene, ethylene, acetone, methanol and benzene have spiked in the past two months. The key driver for acrylic polymers, propylene, has surged by 35% and has led to significant increases in acrylic monomers by all major producers. As a result of this raw material inflation, EPS is electing to raise prices for all water-based acrylic and styrene acrylic polymers, PVAs, PUDs and solution acrylics by 4 cents per pound as of October 1, 2016, or as contract terms permit.
