Grolman Group is the first SME in the chemical industry whose net-zero targets have been validated and published by the Science Based Target Initiative. Grolman Group has committed to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 by 46% by 2030, from a 2019 baseline, and to measure and reduce its Scope 3 emissions.  The group also plans to reduce its Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 90% by 2050, from a 2019 baseline.

“We believe that achieving net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 – in line with the Paris Agreement targets – is feasible and will at the same time also support our business,” said Florian Grolman, CEO Grolman Group. “Of course these targets require robust action across all sectors and an expansion of the range of low-carbon options for the transition. Innovations in our feedstock processing methods need to be combined with typical technical options such as energy efficiency, fuel shifting, carbon-free power generation, and electrification,” said Susan Hilmi, senior Sustainability officer. “We know that there is not just one way to achieve net-zero, but that each company in the industry must define its own transition with the global goal in mind. We believe 2050 is important because it provides a guide for near-term decisions. It shows that more needs to be done now to take advantage of all the options available and avoid committing to the wrong technologies and processes.”
