The Polymers and Coatings program at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, will offer a short course on Polymers and Coatings Science during the week of February 5-9, 2007.

The one-week course will cover many aspects of coating and polymer technologies including resin chemistry, pigments and fillers, nanoparticles, additives, coating application aspects, and rheology, with emphasis on liquid coatings. The short course will bring together a mix of academic and industrial experts in the field to guarantee both fundamental and application aspects are addressed with equal emphasis.

Other coatings technologies (e.g. powder and UV coatings) will be discussed in order to compare and contrast with traditional liquid coatings. In addition, participants will benefit from discussions of VOC and air-quality aspects of coatings by experts in both industry and government regulatory agencies. Participants are expected to have had some exposures to the coatings field along with working knowledge in chemistry and other sciences.
