"Paint odor is caused by the type of resin a paint contains and the amount of solvents added," said Robert Wendoll, director of environmental affairs, Dunn-Edwards. "Since Ecoshield uses a special resin that has a very low odor and doesn't contain any of the solvents added to conventional waterborne paints, it has less paint smell."

The paint was developed for projects where indoor air quality is a concern, such as schools, hospitals, hotels, homes and other closed-ventilation buildings.
