CLEVELAND — ICI Paints announced the launch of a “Customer Needs-Based Strategy” focused on industrial maintenance coatings customers, and named Thomas Verghese to the newly created position of vice president and general manager for the company’s Industrial Maintenance business unit. Verghese was formerly vice president of e-Business for ICI Paints and vice president of Strategic Planning for ICI Paints in North America.

Verghese said the Industrial Maintenance business unit is designed to be a “specific, strategic business whose goal is to meet customer needs with state-of-the-art industry knowledge.” ICI’s Devoe Coatings business is a manufacturer of tank linings and coatings for secondary containment, industrial floors, conveyors, processing equipment, tank walls, and piping.

Verghese noted that the industrial maintenance coatings business is “very different from the architectural coatings business,” and is primarily concerned with protection of assets. The Devoe business “distinguishes itself on knowing the highly specialized needs of its customers,” he said.
